An Evaluation of Death Depression and Death Anxiety in Patients with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease

Objectives: The study aimed to determine the level of death depression and anxiety in patients with COPD. Method: sample this cross-sectional descriptive including patients’ views consisted 104 diagnosed COPD hospitalized a hospital’s pulmonary disease clinic Turkey. Number, percentage, mean, regression, correlation analysis were used data. Results: most disturbing symptom was found be dyspnea (71.2%), cough (17.3%), sputum (11.5%). 44.2% had mild, 40.4% moderate levels, 51% depressive mood. According regression analysis, total score is predictable based on marital status, duration, presence respiratory patients, selfcare levels (R: 0.556, R2: 0.310, F: 3.401, p: 0.000). Anxiety about Death Process-Pain Suffering subscale also depending duration disease, desire know truth case deadly meeting self-care needs 0.563, 0.317, 3.520, Conclusion: Nurses should monitor following more closely terms anxiety; those high dyspnea, history single or widowed long who have difficulties do not want diagnosis disease.
